The Nation Towers project reached another major construction milestone on March 31st, as International Capital Trading, L.L.C and its contractors Arabtec Construction L.L.C and National Projects and Construction, L.L.C. (NPC) successfully lifted into place an enormous steel bridge section weighing over 400 tons. The sky bridge is made out of structural steel and enveloped with aluminum and glass cladding and is supported at four points in the two towers.
The overall installation of the bridge consisted of three major operations: assembly, lifting and positioning. Computer-controlled hydraulically operating lifting and sliding jacks were used to lift the massive section into place 202.5 meters above ground level, making it the tallest sky bridge in the world. At the 50th and the 54th level the sky bridge structure connects Nation Towers 1 and 2.
The Nation Towers, a mixed use development project covering a total built up area of 3,400,000 square feet consisting of two buildings featuring a 64–storey residential tower, a 50–storey luxury hotel and office tower and a retail podium.
The Nation Towers’ Sky Bridge at 202.5 meters has surpassed the world record being the highest link bridge in the world, 30 meters higher than the sky bridge of the Petronas Tower in Malaysia.
